How to avoid tangles in wigs?

In modern society, wigs not only cover the heads of patients with hair loss, but also make people more beautiful, allow people to change their styles, and become decorations and necessities in people's lives. Although wig manufacturers will perform anti-tangle treatment on wigs, this does not mean that no matter how we use them, they will not get tangled. Whether it is human hair wigs or artificial wigs, we also need to take proper care of them when using them to avoid them getting tangled. The service life of tangled wigs will be reduced, and more seriously, they will fall off and lose their original beautiful shape. Therefore, it’s important to understand why wigs get tangled and how to avoid them.

Why is your wig tangled?

1.You didn’t buy a good quality wig

One of the main factors that tend to make wigs tangle is the quality of the wig, whether the cuticles are all aligned, and whether it has been chemically treated. The best quality wig on the market is one that has not been chemically treated, it is cut directly from a little girl's head so the cuticles are all aligned. Secondly, there are wigs that have been treated with cuticle alignment, which are cheaper and less prone to knotting. The worst quality wigs are assembled without handling the direction of the cuticle, and they will become tangled due to the cuticle.

2.Human hair wigs are not compatible with the scalp

Our scalps produce natural oils that protect and prevent our natural hair from drying out, but wigs don't like it, so human hair wigs require special cleaning products and regular maintenance to maintain their shine. And human hair wigs should be washed carefully. It’s best to condition your wig every 8 to 10 wears. When cleaning, do not rub. Proper care can help your wig last longer.

How to avoid wig tangles?

1.Use a wide-tooth comb to comb the wig

The easiest way to prevent tangles is to brush them regularly. And using a wide-tooth comb is the best way to protect our wigs. It is very suitable for untying knots. When combing the wig, first gently comb the wig from the end of the hair, and then comb upward. By doing this we can avoid tangles and separations in the wig and we can easily comb out any tangles. Secondly we should comb the human hair wig when dry. Because wigs are very sensitive when wet, combing your wigs may harm them. If you must comb your hair while it's wet, use a wide-tooth comb or gently comb with your fingers.

 2.Use appropriate wig cleaning tools

Some regular shampoos and conditioners that contain harsh chemicals and alcohol can permanently damage your wig. And they can make your wig appear frizzy, unkempt, dry or dull. We need to use a shampoo specially designed to clean wigs. For example, if we want to clean a curly hair wig, we should use a shampoo specifically designed for curly hair. If it is a dyed wig, we need to use a shampoo suitable for dyed wigs. This avoids damage to the wig and makes it less likely to get tangled.

3.Avoid using heating equipment for long periods of time

Heated devices such as hair dryers and curling irons can also leave our hair dry, soft and brittle if used excessively, so avoid heating your wig for extended periods of time. In addition, it is best not to blow dry the wig. Please let the wig dry naturally after washing. This keeps hair smooth, manageable and tangle-free.

4.Don’t sleep with a wig on

Many people sleep with their wigs on to avoid the hassle of removing and reinstalling them. But friction between the wig and the pillow can damage the hair and cause dryness and tangles, especially for curly and long hair wigs. And if the wig is knotted, it will require a lot of cleaning and styling the next day, which will cause a water-oil imbalance that real hair wigs cannot handle, and even shorten the life of the wig.

 5.Store wigs correctly

When the wig is not in use, store it properly to prevent tangles. Fold short or medium-length hair in half from ear to ear and store in a wig bag. If it is a long wig, fold it into several sections and put them in a bag with a hairnet. Alternatively, if you have a wig stand, placing it on a wig stand is also a good option.
